🫡 Overview

The UCD's School of Information and Communication Studies, research website is a critical hub for research-related information. ****This case study explores the results of usability testing, including a client interview with the in-charge of the website. The remote testing process involved Zoom for interviews and data collection, Optimal Workshop for thematic analysis, and encompassed pre and post-interview questions for participants. Additionally, a competitor analysis of other UCD school websites was conducted as part of secondary research.

• In this Project - Usability testing involved 12 participants, representing three groups: Students/PhD Candidates, Staff/Lecturers, and Funding Agency members.
• The process included a client interview, pre and post-interview questions, and Remote Usability Testing on Zoom.
• Participants were asked to perform tasks using the "think-aloud" method, sharing their thoughts and feelings as they navigated.
• Thematic analysis was conducted using the Optimal Workshop tool.
• Over 300 recorded observations were analysed, with coding and themes created for insights.
• And we recommended the changes based on the findings, we did to the University.

🎯 Objectives

The primary objective is to:

1. Identify usability issues on the UCD's School of ICS research website.

2. Gain insights into user behaviour while performing tasks on the site.

3. Provide practical and actionable recommendations to enhance the overall user experience.
